Why Staying Positive Will Change Your Life
Emily Jaworski

The power of positivity and optimistic thinking truly has the ability to shape the outcome and quality of your life. Even when life is hard and there are a multitude of obstacles that seem difficult to deal with, this is actually the most important time to continue to think positively. Not only does it generally help you maintain a positive outlook and emit happy vibes to others, but it will increase the longevity of your life.

It is so easy to slump into a bad mood or let one little thing break your day. It is easy to let negativity control you instead of you controlling your negativity and how you handle it. But what is important is putting emphasis on every little good thing and remember to be grateful that good things are happening even if that means that nothing is wrong in this moment. Sending out happy vibes to the universe will impact how you view your life in the most exceptional way. It will change how you interact with others whether they are pleasant to you or not, it will keep you energized and always looking forward to a new day and making the most out of the one you have. It will make you inspired and constantly living in the moment. It will affect your brain and your heart, emotionally and physically.

There are many stories about how happiness and positivity have lengthened people’s lives. Some believe these qualities are better than any medicine or remedy.

Negativity drains all the happiness from your life and without happiness or at least feeling content or hope, what are you holding onto? Not only is positivity great for yourself, but it is contagious in the best way possible.

If you struggle with creating or maintaining positivity in your life, there are always things you can do that you can personalize for yourself to help make positivity more attainable. Even if that is giving yourself a break during the day even if you are really busy, waking up and writing down things that you want to remember to be grateful for, or remembering to reach out to people to see how they are doing. Whatever it is, you can make it yours, even if it is just taking five minutes to meditate and think positively or just smile. If you radiate positivity, your mind, body, and soul and life will give it back to you.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
