I don't know how you're all feeling, but I know speaking for myself, I am definitely feeling the mid-semester burnout. At this point the end of the semester seems so close yet so far. With so many classes and organizations moving to the virtual alternative it makes everyday seem repetitive. It's driving me insane.
For specific classes I can get into work super easily, while others it takes me hours to even muster up the energy to listen to a pre-recorded lecture. The schedule that is built out of virtual learning is physically and mentally draining, that I just want to have a break already.
Motivation is a really funny concept only because it is so easy to obtain and even easier to lose. I can watch one video about some random person on the internets journey to discovering themselves and decide to change my entire lifestyle that night. Then to only have myself ignore that same energy the next day. Similar to how you start off the school year ready for the challenge. Stocked up on all of your new schools supplies. You are organized to the max. And then comes the burnout.
Trying to stay motivated is so hard. That's why it is important to acknowledge why you are losing momentum. Are you tired? Are you stressed? Are you concerned about your future? Do you miss someone? There are so many factors that could play into your lack of motivation. If you focus on fixing the problem at the root then you can get back to where you want to be.
My personal favorite way to achieve short-term motivation is to watch one of those extremely hard-core edited motivational speech videos. Or you could just listen to music like a normal person. That works too! But seriously, mid-semester burnout is going to happen to everyone. We aren't well oiled machines that are meant to work non-stop. It's okay to losing motivation at times, we all need breaks. You're half-way there and you got this!
