Choosing A Night In Versus A Night Out Is Sometimes Necessary

You don't have to go to every party, bar, or event that is going on.

Sometimes staying in when your friends are going out is absolutely necessary.

Now I'm not saying you should sit at home every weekend and never go anywhere with your friends, but you don't have to go to everything. In college, we feel pressured to go to every Happy Hour or birthday pre-games, but sometimes you just need to chill and recharge.

If your friends are going to a concert that you are not particularly fond of, don't force yourself to go if you know you won't enjoy it. Just tell them you're going to take one night off to watch Netflix, eat snacks, and lounge around your living room.

Let me say this again for the people in the back or the people who think you have to go out every night. It is perfectly okay and normal to not want to go to every single get-together that takes place.

I don't think you should let this become an every weekend habit because then your friends are going to stop inviting you places altogether. Maybe you could make it a once a month thing, or whenever you see fit. As long as you aren't skipping out on your squad every weekend, you're good. Any good friend will understand when you need a night to relax and recharge on your own. Honestly, maybe some of your friends would even ditch the plans of going out to join you in your night of relaxation!

As I said earlier, don't skip out every time, because college will end and you want these memories. However, don't give in to the pressure that you need to go all out every weekend, because then you'll just end up burnt out.

So maybe this weekend you could rent your favorite rom-com and recharge from the comfort of your own home, rather than being sweated on and pushed around at a crowded bar.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
