Staying Home Sick

All you want to do is lie in bed sleeping and watching a marathon of "Friends" on Netflix

When you're sick, each day feels like a decade. Here is what your average sick day might look like!

1) You feel miserable.

Your head aches, your throat feels like sandpaper, and you feel like you need to make a clear path to the bathroom, just in case.

2) Relief

Once you decide to skip class or use a sick day at work, or have a parent call your school and tell them you’re home sick, you get a little excited that you don’t have to worry about doing work and maintaining focus when you feel so poorly.

3) Sleep

You go back to bed and sleep for a couple hours. You wake feeling a bit better, but still undeniably sick.

4) Waking up to realities

You wake up realizing that you used a sick day on actually being sick, and won’t be able to play hooky and go to the beach for a long weekend this summer

5) Lunchtime hunger

You are hungry but don’t want to have to make yourself lunch. You lie in bed for thirty minutes, wrestling with the idea of just starving before rolling out of bed to heat up some soup. Or waffles.

6) Guilt

You feel a bit guilty, because you’re starting to feel better and you think you maybe could’ve gone to school or work after all.

7) ....Then again...

Oh, never mind; there’s a marathon of Patrick Swayze movies on, too! Good thing you stayed home after all.

8) Resignation

By dinner time, you concede to the fact that you’re healthy enough to go back to your regularly scheduled tasks, and head to bed early.

9) The next day

You wake up the next day….maybe one more sick day, and then you’ll feel better!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).
