Celebrating Halloween as a college student can be an incredibly enjoyable experience—you have the opportunity to dress up as absolutely anything you can think of (except a minion. Pleasedon't be a minion), go out with your friends, and have the time of your life. However, Halloween is notorious for the appearance of terrifying creatures—vampires, werewolves, ghouls, goblins and the like—looking for a good scare. It is pertinent that everyone remains cautious of these creatures and makes smart and safe decisions throughout the night. Here are some important ways in which you can ensure you will have an equally fun-filled and safe All Hallow's Eve.
Drink responsibly
If you choose to indulge in a "potion" or two, never accept a "potion" from anyone you do not trust or know. Ensure that you do not leave your "potion" unattended, even if it is only for a second. Sometimes vampires and werewolves like to poison them, so don't take that risk. If it appears that one of your friends has had too much to drink or is acting strangely, take them somewhere safe immediately.
Stay with your "ghoul friends"
Be sure to avoid situations in which you might be isolated or alone with any type of creature you do not trust or know. Do not leave your group under any circumstances, especially with someone you are not 100 percent sure of, regardless of whether or not they ask you to. Have a trustworthy and dependable friend who knows your location at all times. Remember that not every witch, ghoul, vampire, or werewolf has your best interests at heart—always keep your guard up!
Be aware of your surroundings
Plan a well-lit route to get back to your dorm or house. Carry your phone with you at all times, and make sure it is charged! Be sure to bring some emergency money with you and have contact information for local cab companies on hand (or programmed into your phone) just in case.
Stick with your gut
If you feel uncomfortable, creeped out, or frightened in any place or situation, trust your instincts and get out of there. If you see anything spooky going on, do not hesitate to contact local authorities. Odds are, if you feel like something eerie is happening, it probably is!
Have fun!
Halloween, if you are wise, can be an amazing time! Remember these simple safety tips, go out there, and have a devilishly fun All Hallow's Eve!
