So you’re a little more than halfway through the semester and it feels like you’re barely holding on. We have all had that feeling, but have no fear because believe it or not, there are many effective ways to stay motivated.

Manage Your Time:

When we are sleep deprived and stressed, it can be easy to lose sight of the fact that education is really the top priority in college. The mid-semester slump can seem insurmountable at times, but time management is the key to making it through. I know I’m not the only one who hates it when a dozen tasks are left for the last minute, but it happens to the best of us and that is why it is absolutely crucial to map out your important tasks at the start of each week. This will aid you in staying organized and avoiding falling behind.

Find Balance:

College is extremely overwhelming because of the various ways to get involved. Although it is great to be enrolled in 5 classes, be on the debate team, the homecoming committee, and the mathletes, that also might lead to overwhelming exhaustion. College is a time to get involved, have fun, and enjoy yourself, but none of that is possible unless you find a perfect balance between “work” and “play.”

Set Goals:

Listing your goals will help you put into clear perspective the tasks that you need to complete. Whether it is on a calendar, a checklist, or in an app on your phone, this is an easy way to stay organized and on top of your game. The key to this is to set all different kind of goals: small and large. If your long-term goal is to finish off the semester with all A’s, your smaller goals can be to attend every class and keep up with all assignments and readings. This tactic will help you stay on track and bring you closer and closer to the light at the end of the tunnel.

Stay Determined:

The three P’s are crucial to success: Perseverance, Patience, and a Positive attitude. It is important to internalize that behind every successful person is a ton of hard work (and a significant amount of coffee) so whenever you feel like giving up, persist and push through. When you finally make it to the end of the semester (we’re almost there!) you will realize that hard work really does pay off. So now, turn off your laptop and phone, resist the urge to start the 6th season of that Netflix show, and get to work. You can do this!

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
