The state of Arizona is known as dry, hot, and high temperatures in the summer. I went to the University of Arizona and I had to stay hydrated all the time because the hot weather would make me feel tired if I was not drinking enough water and fluids. People in Arizona constantly fill their water bottles of up to drink more water. It is so important to stay hydrated in Arizona because you don't want the warm temperatures to affect you. Five reasons why you should stay hydrated in Arizona is: 1) Drink a lot of water 2) When you're outside try to drink 1-2 liters 3) Replenish your electrolytes 4) Stay cool inside 5) Go into an air-conditioned place.

The Arizona heat and sun can affect you if don't drink enough water. According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, they reported that the dry heat 1,400 Arizonans get a heat-related illness so serious they end up in the hospital. Tucson and Phoenix are known to get really hot in the summer because of the high temperatures. Arizonans and non-Arizonans can get super sick if they don't drink enough water or fluids. The good news is that preventing heat-related illnesses is easy to do if you just use common sense and making sure you feel ok. Arizonans may say they are used to the heat but that does not mean they are not responsible for being hydrated. Electrolytes are very helpful to our bodies and to stay hydrated in Arizona. Electrolytes are made of salts and minerals, such as sodium, potassium, and calcium. When you're feeling the symptoms of dehydration, your body is telling you that you are low in electrolytes.

Living in the hot desert if you are not used to it can be very hard because your body can react in a lot of different ways such as the most common one which is dehydration. The high temperatures that get to 113 or higher are when you need to stay hydrated the majority of the time because of the dry heat. You must protect yourself from the hot summer months, for instance, May, June, July, and August. Some Arizonans say that the hot weather is worth it because Tucson will get a little bit cooler throughout the year.

As summer months hit, here are a couple of tips to stay hydrated in the Arizona heat; Drink enough water to prevent thirst, eat at least five cups of fruits and vegetables per day for optimum health as they all contain levels of water and nutrient potassium, and avoid alcoholic beverages. Alcoholic beverages in the dry heat can make you dehydrated very easily because it contains the opposite of electrolytes and healthier nutrients. You may be ready for summer and have summer plans to look forward to but it is that time of year to get prepared for the hot months. Also, soda is not healthy for you and it will not keep you hydrated from the dry heat, so try to stick to water and fluids that have electrolytes in it.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
