After having five weeks spent at home, going back to school can be hard. While syllabus week is not known for being the hardest week of school, there are still a lot of things that need to be done during this time. Here are some tips on how to get back into the swing of things and start the semester right.
1. Make a daily routine.
With a new class schedule and being out of your typical school routine at home, getting a new routine together can help the semester start off smoothly.
2. Spend some time with your friends...
You haven't seen many of your friends since you left school before winter break. Making time to see them before things get too busy is important.
3. ..but leave some time to relax.
While it is important to see your friends, it is also important to relax and get rested before classes start.
4. Make a few semester goals.
Whether it is raising your GPA a little or joining a new club, having a goal will give you something to work towards.
5. Get a plan ready for your classes.
Read over your syllabi so you can get an idea of what to expect in your classes. This will help you be more prepared later on.
6. Have your planner ready.
Many professors give dates of exams or other important days early in the semester. Having these in your planner will keep you from forgetting about them.
7. Don't miss class!!
While this one shouldn't have to be said, there are still people that will skip or sleep through a class during the first week. Don't let your semester start off that way.
8. Get your required materials.
Some professors will tell you that a certain book will be needed. When a professor says a book is required, there is a good chance there is a reason behind it. Sometimes professors will lecture on other material but still test on things you were supposed to read.
9. Don't get stressed out early on.
Staying calm is normally easier said than done, but it is important to stay calm during the beginning of the semester. The sooner you get stressed out, the longer you are.
