I've always thought that moving back to school after summer break was a lot like returning home after a long vacation. I love moving back to school! Yes, I miss my family and my dog, but I enjoy getting back into my own routine of school, work, and socializing. I no longer feel as though I am infringing on my sister's personal space considering the fact that in the past year and a half our room has become her room. Which is totally fine! She is completely entitled to her space, especially since she lives at home, whereas I only visit my home. I am happy to have my own space (even if it is shared with my roommates that I can decorate and make my home. I am happy to return to the familiarity of Bristol, RI. In short, this summer, I felt homesick for my college town. I missed the peaceful atmosphere and how relaxing it is to simply walk through Newport.
Being a junior means that you've been through the move in process and lived in a dorm before. Therefore, it seems like there is less of an RA presence. You are pretty much left to your own devices, which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your living situation.
It is interesting to be a junior. Instead of asking you where on campus you live, people ask if you even live on campus at all. My roommates are already making plans for next year's living arrangements even though we've only been living in our on-campus apartment for a week. It feels as though everyone would rather skip over junior year and go straight to senior year. Plans for grad school and internships and employment are being made.
I've noticed that as I attend upper level classes in my major, the class sizes are smaller and there are more familiar faces in my classes, which is nice! I like working with familiar faces.
Overall, my junior year has been off to a great start and I cannot wait to see what is in store for me!
