As a young adult, it is almost inevitable that you look back at situations in your life and wish you could have a do-over. Feeling like you're not really getting the most out of life can be frustrating. What is there to do? Well, if you think it's best, a fresh start might be the best option for you. Whether it's moving across the country to create roots in a new city or just a simple change of attitude and motivation, beginning again can be the most satisfactory feeling in your life.

Before you begin, you want to make sure that this is really what you want. You really need to evaluate where you're at in life and what changes need to take place. If you think that you're going to end up doing this alone, it might turn out to be more problematic than you bargained for.

I've taken a good amount of time to think about what I can do to feel at peace with myself. Should I cut my hair? Should I get another tattoo? Should I change the way I talk to others? I've really had to lay out my hopes and dreams as well as the reality of my situation to see what is doable. The answer to this is simple, anything is doable.

What I've learned through recent research is that no matter what you decide to change in your life or what direction you end up heading, having the life you want is always within reach. According to a TedTalk video that I watched recently, we need to change the lenses in which we see the world in order to change our mindset. In this video, Shawn Anchor reveals that there is a "formula" to our happiness in order to train our brains to think about life more positively. In practicing these techniques, you will begin to feel a sense of ease when it comes to your life.

"Journaling about one positive experience you've had over the past 24 hours allows your brain to relive it. Exercise teaches your brain that your behavior matters. We find that meditation allows your brain to get over the cultural ADHD that we've been creating by trying to do multiple tasks at once and allows our brains to focus on the task at hand. And finally, random acts of kindness are conscious acts of kindness. We get people, when they open up their inbox, to write one positive email praising or thanking somebody in their support network."

The power of positivity can greatly impact others lives, as well as your own. In seeking positive empowerment, you are only looking for the good, and good gestures can only attract good gestures. If a fresh start is something that will help you to feel fulfilled, then by all means, take action as soon as possible. Whether it's moving across the country, changing the color of your hair, or simply telling someone they look nice today, you'll be able to feel refreshed in your life. We all deserve to start over, why not take the chance of change today?

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
