2017 is here, and if you're on social media you've most likely seen all of your friends making "new year, new me" posts. I've never been one to understand why we wait until the beginning of the year to break our bad habits.
Ladies and gentlemen, I am here to tell you that you don't need to make a "New Years" resolution. You don't need to wait for the first day of a new year to start all the things you should be doing right now. If you want to make changes in your life, decide to make them happen right now.
The longer you wait, the less likely you are to follow through.
You want to eat healthier? Decide right now to not eat out as much. Believe me, I know how tempting that Taco Bell is. Don't. Do. It.
Make the decision to cut that habit out of your life now, and you'll feel better in the long run.
You want to work out? Spend more time on your feet. Are you sitting down right now? You don't have to wait until January first (or second, after that hangover wears off) to work out. You could go for a walk or a run in your free time rather than waiting to get a membership for a gym.
You want to save money? If you've decided to stop eating out as much, that will save your bank sooo much money in the long run. Be a bargain hunter. It's important to treat yourself, but make a budget that works for you now.
You want to spend more time with family and friends? All it takes is a phone call.
And another thing:
Don't base your goals around what everyone else is doing. It's easy to just go with the flow and try to fit in, but you should be focusing on your life. Take a look at the things that have been bothering you personally and stick to those. If they happen to be similar to someone you know, make them your resolution buddy. It's easier to follow through with something if you have someone to hold you accountable.
Don't overdo it. Do what you need to do to be a better person, and the rest will come naturally.
