Tis’ the season, the season that does not seem to ever be long enough. As the weather changes and the leaves fall, we are left with many choices. Some of us will celebrate, randomly kicking leaves and throwing them at whoever is with us as we walk to class. Others will briskly stride away, shaking their heads at the childish play.
I would like to think that the season is telling us something. Obviously that we should make the most of it but maybe something else as well. This season brings joy knowing the holidays are rolling through as well as stress. Stress in knowing we are just going to be getting busier as time never seems to be on our side.
Despite the fallbacks (see what I did there), there is another phrase this season brings. Literally. It goes something like this.
Fall. Just fall. When I say this, I do not mean trip. Avoid all uneven sidewalks my friends. What I do mean is just fall.
Fall for people, for their beautiful smiles and butterfly filling laughter. Fall for your dreams and the careers you get the honor of waking up each morning and going to. Fall for love, hope, strength, courage, honesty and everything wonderful this world has to offer.
It is about time we stop always chasing things. Stop chasing people and dreams and goals. Fall for them. Spend every second you can taking in all the love and joy this world brings. Not every waking minute is going to be overfilling with fall. Obviously, there are three other seasons waiting for you. In the meantime, just fall. You work your butt off, the least you can do is fall time and time again.
Make like a leaf and go for it. We spend half our lives chasing after people who do not see how worthy we are. Fall for those who know your worth; who never take you for granted. This is your life; it is your adventure.
There are 7 billion people on this world chasing after things they can just fall for. Make that leap. Take risks. Do the unexpected. Falling is not always bad. Sure, it hurts but you always learn a lesson; you always stand up stronger. Everyone falls apart sometimes. Now is the season to embrace it and all it has to offer. Make mistakes. Break things. Fix them. “You have to experience life to understand it.”
Do not ever stop falling. The season calls for it.
Fall, we’re ready for you. Be kind to us.
