Everyone has that musical artist who they grew up listening to, that one singer or band that instantly reminds you of your younger years. For me, that singer is none other than Taylor Swift. Taylor has certainly experienced many ups and downs (haven't we all?), but my opinion of her will forever be rosily tinged with nostalgia. From her first twangy album to her most recent award-winning release, Taylor has managed to stay steadily in the spotlight no matter what. Who better to narrate the experiences and thoughts we often share at the beginning of fall semester than this cat-loving pop star?
Here are a few of the challenges and highlights of the start of fall semester, as told by Taylor herself.
Getting back into an actual routine
The transition back to a normal sleeping schedule is always the worst part.
Drawing a blank while taking your first exam
It's terrifying seeing all of that "Blank Space" (yup, I went there).
When everyone overestimates their partying capabilities
Oh, the stories from last night...
Attempting to pull an all-nighter for the first time since last semester
Before you realize that you definitely won't be able to make it until dawn.
Hearing your name during attendance on the first day of classes
Does anyone else ever worry that the professor won't hear them when they answer? No? Just me? Okay.
Looking at the syllabus and realizing how much work you have to do
Don't worry-- it only gets worse.
When you no longer care about promptly taking your laundry out of the dryer
Cue that passive aggressive laundry room vibe.
Getting back an English paper that's covered in red corrections
This happens to me so often, and it's the strangest feeling ever.
Introducing yourself to every new face you see
So many introductions and ice breakers!
When there's pizza in the dining hall but the line is never-ending
Desperate times call for deliciously cheesy measures, after all.
Seeing your friends again after an entire summer apart
This is followed by excited screaming and hugging, of course.
Well put, Taylor. Well put.
