When Is The Best Time To Follow Your Dream?

The dictionary definition of dream is "a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person's mind during sleep." But when I ask you what your dreams are, I'm referring to the goals or things you'd like to accomplish, basically your deepest desires.

So when is the best time to follow your dream? Honestly, now! I find that dreams are a big deal that take time, effort, and (most of the time) money. Which makes these reasons also the most common excuses: time, money, and even sometimes lack of motivation to work hard (as crazy as that sounds)! When the truth is, when there's a will there's a way, which is generic and cheesy. You're going to tell me it's not that easy, but it is! The thing is, if the means aren't there to accomplish your dreams, make them. Progression is built from small steps. Little changes that slowly put you on the right path, but it takes work. If you need money, you have to work overtime at that job you may not like. If you need time, prioritize it, just face it you can make time. Finally if you need motivation, I can't help you with that, just ask yourself how bad you want your dream and what your willing to do to get there.

This sounds like a lot of tough love, when it is truly a plan for myself. I have thought a lot about what I want to accomplish and how I'm going to get there lately. Everyone has plans to do something great in life because we are taught to dream and have goals by our parents, coaches, and teachers who all want us to succeed. So as you are following your dream appreciate these people and keep people around you that will help you accomplish what you want in life.

These are all things that everyone has most likely heard at one point or another, but it makes a big difference to actually act on it and make a plan. Having a plan makes me feel like I'm actually doing something to progress my dream. So write it down, keep track of the progress, and have little goals to keep you on track. And always keep God in your dreams. Pray for guidance and be thankful of where you are. I don't like to push my faith on people, but this makes a difference. If you're a faithful person, include faith your dreams it will make you more sure of yourself and possibly more successful. So following your dream is not simple but start small and work your way up and most importantly, start NOW!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
