For years now people have found ways to become offended by the color of coffee cups, as if there was nothing else going on in the world that needed our attention. Yet, Starbucks is at is again with their new spring cups. On March 16th, Starbucks will be releasing a line of pastel colored coffee cups to celebrate the coming of spring that will be available for a limited time.
Spring, like every other season of the year, contains holidays that may apply to certain religions *cough, cough* Easter. So, it's only natural to assume that these Starbucks cups are to celebrate said holiday, right?
Well, no. We've learned in the past that Starbucks does not actually discriminate any person or religion so, any level-headed person would understand these brightly colored cups are here to cheer us up after a long winter. I have no doubt people are going to lose their absolute minds when they see these cups, but let's get a few things straight first.
1. It's not even Easter yet.
We're still a full month away from the religious holiday and this isn't one we're going to celebrate early.
2. Spring is the time of year when all the flowers ~are supposed to~ bloom.
Tulips, pansies, daffodils, and peonies will all be out to show off their beautiful colors and that is what Starbucks is celebrating, not religion.
3. Those are circles, not eggs.
This is not an Easter egg hunt, so quit looking so hard for something that isn't there.
If your biggest concern in life is the color of someone's coffee cup, it might be time to turn on the news and see what is actually going on in the world.
Starbucks has been rolling out seasonal cups for over 20 years. They're not going to stop because you're offended. Also, Starbucks is probably too focused on the 10,000 refugees they plan on hiring to combat Donald Trump's immigration ban, so your complaints may just have to wait until next December's unveiling of seasonal cups.
