A live-action "Star Wars" TV show was announced last year and has been undercover for a long time.
The show will be directed by Jon Favreau. Up until now, this was all we knew about the series, other than that it was to release on the Disney streaming service that will be taking our money come next year.
News recently broke with small details about the show, such as when it will take place in the "Star Wars" canon and who the story will be about.
What we currently know is that the story will take place several years after the events of "Return of the Jedi" ("Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi").
Alongside this announcement, it was revealed that the story will revolve around the world of Mandalore. This will be a post-Empire Mandalore that will lack rules and could give rise to factions that would bring terror upon the galaxy.
Nothing else has been revealed… But… Let's speculate.
The last time fans saw Mandalore was in "Star Wars Rebels," where we followed Sabine Wren and the Ghost crew. The Wren Family sought to get an edge on the Empire. Sabine united many Mandalorians by wielding the Darksaber (a lightsaber crafted by an ancient Mandalorian/Jedi). The saber was passed on to Bo Katan.
We can assume this fight was still going on as Mandalore fought for independence and fought one another in order to find out who they were. Would they be the passive/peace loving planet that we saw in "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" or the warriors from their past?
It is no doubt that Mandalore will struggle with its identity throughout the series until the situation resolves with good defeating evil and freedom overcoming tyranny.
The show is set to start production soon and will be airing sometime next year on the Disney streaming service coming next year.
Until then...
