I have always been a huge Star Wars fan for the longest time. The first episode I ever saw was Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. After seeing that episode, I had to see them all. Two years back when Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens was released, I could not wait to see it because it had been ten years since a Star Wars film was in theaters. On Friday December 15, 2017, Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi was released into theaters, I, of course, could not wait to see it! I saw the movie with one of my best friends, Kurt, and it was pretty good.

As any Star Wars fan knows, in this episode, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) returns because Rey (Daisy Ridley) wants to learn the way of the force and that General Leia (Carrie Fisher) sent her to the planet where Luke resides now. Luke does not want to be bothered by Rey and tries to ignore her, but she is persistent and does not give up.

Finn (John Boyega) finally awakens after being hurt by Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) in the last episode. He wonders where Rey is and plans to go and find her. Finn meets a resistance fighter, Rose (Kelly Marie Tran), who thinks he is fleeing the ship and tranquilizes him because she thinks he is a traitor. However, the two find out that the First Order is tracking them through hyperspace, so the two go on a mission to find a person who can break the tracker on the enemies trip.

Back to Rey on the island with Luke. He tells her if she wants to know the force then she had to sit and close her eyes and feel what is around her. She does so, and Luke realizes that she has so much power and that frightens him. The last time Luke saw power like that was when he was teaching Ben Solo (Kylo Ren) to be a Jedi. Rey says she is not like Kylo Ren and will not fail him.

As Rey begins to train, she realizes she can have mind conversations with Kylo Ren. She believes she can turn him to side with the Resistance, but that does not go over too well for her.

I will stop here so I do not give any spoilers away, so I will now just talk about how what I thought of the movie. To begin, this was the last movie Carrie Fisher will ever star in because she passed away last year. The only spoiler I will give is that her character is alive at the end of the movie. I think the director should have just killed off Princess Leia in this episode because she is dead. Star Wars Episode IX will be released in two years, so it will be interesting to see how the director and the crew use CGI (computer generated imagery) for Leia.

Further, Kylo Ren looked conflicted throughout the movie. Is he a good guy or a bad guy? I have no idea; I guess I will just have to wait until the next movie.

Seeing Luke Skywalker was amazing. This character is a huge part of the Star Wars world. I unfortunately did not like where director Rian Johnson went with this character.

Overall, the movie was great! But there were many things I did not like about the movie. On the other hand, the movie did have a lot of action and some witty comments throughout.

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
