I can’t tell you how excited I am for the new Star Wars. Thanks to my friends I have become a huge fan of the movies. I couldn’t even tell you what exactly I enjoy most about Star Wars other than the fact that it is so amazing. The characters, the story line, the action, and the fact that it has been going strong.
I think that it is important to first look at some facts. Like I said the original Star Wars, Episode Four: A New Hope, was released in 1977, about 38 years ago. This means that the very first Star Wars came out when my parents were about ten-years-old and when my grandparents were in their 30’s. The prequel trilogy’s first film, Episode One: The Phantom Menace, came out in 1999, merely two years after I was born. The new trilogy’s first movie is coming out December 18, 2015 and I am currently 18. Star Wars movies have spanned and will continue to span until about 2019, about 42 years after the release of the very first movie.
Now you’re probably wondering why I am giving you all this background information on Star Wars, but I think that it is important to look at these facts when looking at why Star Wars has such a huge impact. There are a ton of articles out there about Star Wars and why it is so incredible. I agree with all these articles, but I think it’s most valuable for people to realize how Star Wars has impacted those around them. When I talk to my mom she tells me about how she saw Star Wars growing up as a child, and how it was a part of hers. When I look at my life, I have seen the films and now I consider them a part of my childhood. My sister is currently eight years old and will soon be able to watch the movies. When the last Star Wars film comes out in 2019 she will be 12, around the same age as my mom when she first saw the movies.
The reality is Star Wars spans across so many generations, and I think that it is something that brings families together. I know that parents love watching movies from when they were younger and having their children enjoy them now. Star Wars is one of those series that parents go “oh, yeah I remember watching that when I was younger,” and I now go “I’m seeing the new Star Wars come out.” The monumental impact of those statements just go to show how long-lasting and life-impacting a set of movies can become. Star Wars is a set of films that families, young and old, gather together to enjoy. Yes, some of the movies are old, but some of the movies are so new.
I wanted to write an article not only about a series that I love, but about something that I think shows the extent to which the world cycles tradition. There is a pattern in our world to have parents show children what they watched in their youth, and it’s such an incredible thing to say that I will have a series that I can show my children. I can discuss the reality that my parents saw the first ones released and I was able to see the last ones. I feel like in the world we need more of these amazing connections to the past. The films are old and you can tell from the animation, but they are still so outstanding that they continue to be seen. There are not many, if any series of movies that can rival that statement and I think that is what makes Star Wars special.
I hope that my article has brought some insight to not only Star Wars, but to the impact that generations can have on each other. I’m so excited for the new Star Wars to be released, and if you haven’t seen any of the movies there is still time before the new one is released. I am proud to be a part of the Star Wars years, and I hope that you all are proud to be part of something so significant. “Remember…the force will be with you always;” I hope you have and will continue to have a fantastic journey through the world of Star Wars.
