A Star Is Born

Shine Your Light And Illuminate The World

A Star Is Born
Relay For Life WPEC

We all have the potential to be great and to shine our light bright to illuminate the world. We are all stars in our own right however so many do not allow for their star to be born. So many people listen to the doubters, the haters, the naysayers and their own negative self-talk that they hold them self back from the greatness that is their birthright. To combat this I recommend that you remind yourself daily that you are a star. I have this ritual where I say that I am the best there is, the best there was, and the best there will be as I look into the mirror reminding me that I have this greatness to unleash on the world. I take time to reflect on where I have been and all my accomplishments so that I can see where I have been so I can see where I am at and look at where I am going. You were born to be a shining star so do not let anyone take that away from you not even yourself. Now is the time for you to tap into your inner divinity and use your talents for good. The day you understand that you are a divine child of GOD and GOD wants you to prosper is the day you begin to manifest the life you desire.

When you begin to understand that the world is your stage and you are a star you will begin to see many signs that will assist you in moving forward toward your dreams. I remember going to interview Coach Lamont Carr of The Palm Beach Imperials and upon arrival finding a microphone on the scorer's table. It turned out it was live so in my best announcer voice, I said "Welcome to FAU for Today's Scrimmage between The Imperials Blue Team and The Imperials White Team. After I did the interview with Coach Carr and after the interview he asked if I could stay and announce the scrimmage. I said yes. At the end of the scrimmage coach Carr invited me to announce The Palm Beach Imperials Season Opener. I did the season opener and a woman from The Palm Beach Punishers of The Independent Women's Football League approached me to do their games I said yes. A star was born.

Since becoming a paid public address announcer and realizing that I have the talent to bring games to life I have been chasing my dream of one day doing professional games for The NFL or The NBA as football and basketball are two of my favorite sports. In looking for opportunities I have reached out to many teams and have been hired to do several games. Recently I was announcing The Super Bowl Games for The Pop Warner Gold Coast Football Program when I was heard by The Assistant Athletic Director and Head Coach for Cardinal Gibbons High School and he offered me the job as PA Announcer for the 2017 Football Season. I accepted and have done the Red-White Scrimmage and The Spring Game. I share this with you to encourage you to continually put yourself out there for someone is waiting to see your star shine bright to illuminate the world.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
