I Stand with DACA

And you should too

I Stand with DACA

I stand with DACA because no human is illegal. I stand with DACA because everyone who wants to get an education deserves to get it. I stand with DACA because it's inhumane to send people to a country they don't know or understand. I stand with DACA because it gives people a new opportunity and hope. I stand with DACA because no one should live in fear.

DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) is a program that was instated during Barack Obamas presidency, which allows immigrants who were brought into the country as children. A program which has given thousand of immigrants a chance for a better life, a life that they deserve. It has allowed them to be able to apply for homes, continue their education past the high school level, buy a car, and so many more things.

Don't get it twisted, DACA recipients haven't received a "free ride". They may be able to get accepted into certain universities and colleges but they still don't qualify for FASFA. There's also a notion that undocumented immigrants don't pay taxes and that's false. Also this isn't a means for citizenship but a work permit that allows for their progression, it's not a become-a-citizen-quick-pass.

Taking DACA away is cruel and unjust. How dare you punish these people for something they had no say in. Punish them for wanting to have a better a life that their parents dreamed for them and actually got see it happen only for the possibility that it might be snatched away by the signing of a piece of paper. How would you feel if one day your whole live was taken away from you and you could nothing? Would you not want someone to fight for you? That's why we have to fight for them. Not only because you would want someone to do the same for you but because it's right.

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
