I wrote this poem a while ago. The idea for Stained Glass came from one of my professor's sayings. In this saying, he compared us to stained glass as we have pieces that form the beautiful story of our each of our lives. This is my take on his saying.
Broken glass,
Shattered past.
Who am I?
Where did I go?
I don’t know why,
But I don’t know.
Who am I?
I know where I’ve been,
But I just can’t recognize
Who I am within.
I’ve been put through it.
This I know is true.
“God, you had to do it
To make me more like you.”
Shattered is my past,
Broken like glass.
But I’ve realized now
My experiences are pieces
That make me, me.
A kaleidoscope, colorful,
This window is beautiful
This stained glass is a story,
The story of me.
It’s even more beautiful,
When the light shines through.
The radiance and color
Leaves many in awe and wonder.
Broken pieces made into workmanship.
And really, it’s because of my relationship
With Jesus Christ,
The Truth, the Light.
The Light that shines through,
And makes me new.
A new creation,
A masterpiece,
A stained glass window,
For all to see.
