Back to school is rapidly approaching and for many college girls, they are anticipating sorority recruitment. I went through rush at my school and found a home in Alpha Delta Pi, but rush is a very unique thing at every school. I'm here to show a couple different stages of rush as an incoming freshman:
1. Anticipation
Back to school is finally here and not long after, recruitment will begin. You've watched your older friends post pictures with all of their sorority sisters on bid day and other events and you can't wait to feel that for yourself. Or maybe you're not totally sure that sororities are for you, but feel like you need to experience rush.
2. Curiosity
You've definitely heard about sororities but much of what you seen is stereotypical girls with long blond hair in pretty dresses. Is everyone dolled up for every event? (No.) Do I constantly have to look perfect all the time? (No.) Do I get as many t-shirts as it seems? (Yes.) Questions race through your mind, but don't worry, soon many will be answered.
3. Confusion
The first day of rush has finally begun. You're greeted by many cheerful, smiling faces singing loudly and screaming names over them. Dancing may or may not be involved. What you've just witnessed is unlike anything you've experienced before, and it's kind of hard to know what to make of it. But by the third or fourth house, you've grown accustomed to it and are just glad to hear the exciting song.
4. Excitement
The day is finally here. You gather and open your bid card and run screaming to a place you will hopefully soon call home. You're surrounded by sisters and all the nerves and anxiety have begun to fly away. You can just relax and have an incredible night with your new sisters
5. Exhaustion
You've spent anywhere from three to seven days trying to look your best and talk to girls incessantly. You've been as many people call it girl flirting for days trying to find the right place and now you've done. you've celebrated. It's time to take a nap.
