The Stages Of Running Into An Ex: According To Ru Paul

Whenever I see an ex-boyfriend in public, I shrivel up into a tiny, red, embarrassed ball. It is literally the worst feeling in the entire universe. But what you gotta do is face the beast in itself! You got this.

FYI- These stages do not apply to only an ex boyfriend... these stages can apply to: an ex-girlfriend, a one night stand, someone you really liked but rejected you, or just someone you flat out dislike.

First Stage: You See Them

Aw, crap. You see him. He's standing there, looking fine and so handsome. You wanna kiss his face. You wanna barf. You wanna run into the nearest building and hide for cover. This is SOS: the beginning....but you show no emotion on the outside.

Second Stage: You Make Eye Contact

Now you made eye contact. With me, this creates an insane amount of anxiety through my body. It's like this rush of "oh god no, oh god no, oh god NOoOoOo!!!!!" Literally like panic. You feel your heart dying.

Third Stage: Conversation

This can go either way. Sometimes it's filled with extreme awkwardness (example: laughing, giggling, stuttering), polite conversation, or just straight up crying/ anger/ yelling/ fighting. I have experienced all three. My experiences have been laughing and walking away, crying, or saying a simple "hey." It depends what your relationship was like with the person!

Fourth Stage: Calming Down

You encountered the moment with your ex. It's scary. It's awkward. It went okay. It was depressing. He may have broken your heart in half, or he was just someone to have fun with. Either way, it is awkward and it sucks, though we don't like to admit it sometimes. One way to calm down is to take some breathes and create a thinking mantra: "You are okay. You saw him. You didn't die." (I am slightly more dramatic than the average girl....) The point is: worry about yourself.

Fifth and Final Stage: Sissy That Walk

YOU DID IT! You were a queen in seeing that boy or girl who hurt you! Now that you repeated the mantra, and calmed down: it's time to SISSY THAT WALK! You are fabulous, beautiful, smart, creative, fun, and fierce. You don't need no man! Strut and do your thing, girl!

Ru Paul is my role model, a true queen in the most beautiful form. She knows exactly how to work it, henny! She is the best person to convey my emotions. If you don't know who Ru Paul is - PLEASE watch it on Hulu or Logo TV - this show will change your life.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
