Long distance relationships are very common going into college. Obviously they aren't the best situation to be in, but people that want to be together will make it work anyway. Here are the stages I'm sure everyone in a long distance relationship can relate to.

1. Trying to have a good time with your friends at school.

You know that you only get to experience college once so you try and make the most of it. You tell yourself that you should be having the time of your life, yet you still can only think about one thing(or more specifically one person).

2. Counting down the days until your first visit.

When you plan your first visit it is always super exciting because you actually have a date you know you will see your BAE. Once the date is marked on your calendar you always know how many days it will be until you see your significant other.

3. Getting annoyed by everyone else's PDA while you're alone.

You really don't hate PDA until you're not with your boyfriend/girlfriend for a long period of time. Watching other people be able to do cute couple things just makes you miss your boyfriend/girlfriend so much more.

4. Getting super excited the day before BAE is finally coming.

The day before your bae comes is always so exciting since you haven't seen him/her in forever. That one day seems so long because you can't think of anything other than the fact you will be reunited in a short 24 hours.

5. Running into each others arms.

This is by far the best feeling in the world. Finally being back together with the person you love. Finally being able to touch them after being away from them for so long.

6. Enjoying every moment together.

No matter what you are doing it is a million times better because you're together.

7. Having the "I miss you already talk".

This often happens the day/night before you know you will have to say goodbye. You get upset because you know your time is coming to an end and you hate that.

8. Saying Goodbye.

This is without a doubt the hardest part of long distance relationships. Sometimes you have no idea when you're going to see each other again which makes it even harder.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering.
