Once you're suddenly away from the person you're used to having around 24/7, you start to go through a series of withdrawals. As you're learning how to function without them, here are some of the things you start to feel.

1. Denial

You’ve always been two strong, sufficient and independent people; that’s why you’re friends. You tell yourself that you can definitely make it without them as close as you’re used to. You moved away to pursue your dream and they’re living theirs, so you keep telling yourself that you both wound up where you did for a reason. With that in mind, you will be okay…right?

2. Clinging

As it turns out, you’re not okay with them not being right by your side. You try your best to make it feel like they are there with text messages, calls, Facebook tags and maybe even letters. You chose to be where you are, but you definitely did not choose to be there without them. You don’t want to do life without them, so you refuse to.

3. Jealousy

The unthinkable has happened. They posted an adorable picture with someone else. You need to know everything. Who are they? Where did they come from? What’s their major? What were they like in high school? What have they done to be deserving of your best friend's time? Are they replacing you? You need answers. Even though you’ve probably done the exact same thing, it in no way lessens your love for your best friend, but the little green monster consumes you.

4. Acceptance

You might have overreacted, but only by a little. They’re going to have other friends, and that is going to have to be okay because above all else, you just want them to be happy.

5. Motivation

There’s a break in sight and you’re both going to get to see each other again-finally! The moment you know this, it’s nearly all you think about. You use that as motivation by telling yourself, “If I make it through this, I’ll get to see them,” or, “If I do well on this test, we’re going to have so much fun together!” Finally, “Just make it a few more days- they’re waiting to see you at the end.”

6. Celebration

It’s one of the best hugs you’ve ever given, you're smiling from ear to ear and there may even be some tears. It’s been way too long, but you finally get to see them. You don’t even know where to start because you want to know everything about their new life. Even still, you don’t even care because you’re together, so you cherish every moment.

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
