I may have just seen my dog over thanksgiving break, but that doesn't mean I'm not having serious fluff withdrawals. Leaving your dog is probably the worst thing about going back to school. You just have to remind yourself it's not goodbye, it's see you later. It's easier said than done, however. Here are things all dog-lovers go through when they leave and are away from their favorite furballs:

1. Attempting to steal your dog

And bring it back to school with you. Sadly you are caught every time and forced to leave the pup at home. Don't give up however, one of these times you might actually get away with it.

2. Knowing that goodbyes are the hardest

How can you leave those puppy dog eyes? It literally breaks your heart as you say goodbye and head back to school every single time. You probably have to tell yourself not to cry, but end up crying anyway. It's okay and totally normal, at least for me it is.

3. Getting back and remembering you no longer have a cuddle buddy

Who is going to snuggle with me whenever I want now that I'm back at school? Seriously, it's a real tragedy. Dogs are the best remedy for finals stress, but it's hard when your dog is too far away. *cue the tears*

4. Not having a door greeter

Realizing your best furry friend isn't going to greet you with a loving welcome at the end of each day. Dog greetings make even the worst days better and that's much needed in college.

5. Requesting to FaceTime your dog

You call your mom almost daily just to FaceTime your dog. Your non-dog-loving friends think you're crazy, but don't listen to those haters.

6. Finding ways to talk about your dog with your friends

And people who aren't your friends. And then you show them pictures even when they don't ask. You're just a proud parent showing off your child, so there's no judgment, right? If they're annoyed, you don't need those kinds of dog haters in your life. Just keep showing off your child.

7. Counting down the days until you can see your dog again

And your family...I guess. But your dog is obviously the most important reason to come home. Let the countdown begin and watch the numbers get lower and lower as you come closer to the best day of winter break. The day you finally get to pet your dog again.

8. Nearly crying every time you see another dog

Because you miss yours so much and can't stand the long distance relationship. Thank god it doesn't last forever, and you'll be reunited soon. It's time to do your happy dance and see the light at the end of the dark tunnel of being away from your pup.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
