The Stages Of Finishing A Series On Netflix

We all come to this point eventually. You're on the last episode of your favorite show on Netflix and you have to face the fact that there are no more episodes left for you to watch. There are many stages that come along with this traumatic event (okay, maybe I'm being a little dramatic here). For some, you may be finishing a show for good, and others you still have weekly episodes you can watch live, however, both of these will never compare to your late-night Netflix binges.

Stage 1: Denial.

You've seen this day coming for a while now, though you refuse to accept the imminent ending of your favorite show. How will you ever function properly again without the daily dose of Olivia Pope, Blair Waldorf, or Leslie Knope?

Stage 2: Acceptance.

You’ve finally come to terms with the fact that there are only a few episodes remaining. You watch the remaining few sparingly, attempting to prolong the inevitable – the dreaded day you finish the series.

Stage 3: Preparations.

The time has come. You’ve put off watching the series finale as long as you can, but you simply must know how things conclude for your characters. Be sure to have tissues and some snacks ready to comfort you through this emotional roller coaster.

Stage 4: The last episode.

You’ve watched the series finale and no doubt laughed, cried, and cursed the fact that the show has drawn to a close.Whether you were happy with the way things ended or not, it was surely an emotional event that provided the closure you needed.

Stage 5: Grief.

The next day is when the pain of your loss really sets in. You’ll feel empty inside as you habitually open Netflix before realizing you have no more new episodes left to watch. These characters have become a part of you, it's hard to let them go. What other show could possibly be incredible enough to fill the void?

Stage 6: Moving on.

Although nothing will ever replace your favorite show, there are endless possibilities of new shows out there to watch. If you’re sure no other show will compare, you can always just re-watch the series from episode one. Whether you decide to move on to a new show, or start over with the one you just finished, there will always be a special place in your heart for you favorite shows.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
