The 6 Stages Of Finding A Halloween Costume In College

Halloween. When we were younger it took forever to get here, and now that we're older it arrives too fast. There aren't enough hours in the day to eat healthy, work out, do homework and find a cute and trendy Halloween costume on top of that. The days before Halloween in college turn into a frantic rush to put together a last minute costume, realizing that what once was weeks to find a costume has turned into a matter of days.

1. "I have plenty of time."

It's true--there is plenty of time in this present moment, but the reality of the matter is you will not be getting your costume in a timely manner.

2. "I know exactly what I want to be!"

This is the first, but not the only lie you will be telling yourself regarding your costume. I promise you will change your outfit at least five more times by next Saturday!

3. "Halloween is soooo far away."

Lies. Lies. Lies.

4. "How is it already October 20th?!

Reality starts to set in.

5. Googles DIY last minute Halloween costumes

It's just around the corner.

6. "I'm just going as a cat."

The reality is that Halloween is tomorrow, and easy and cute is the best way to go!

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
