Everyone has those days when they really just cannot get themselves to go to class. Whether you're too tired, you don't feel well, forgot to do your homework or just flat out do not feel like going, we all have those days when we contemplate on whether or not we should skip class. Personally, I probably spend too much time deciding whether or not it's a smart idea for me to skip class. The stages of deciding to skip class go something like this:
1. I am not going to class today.
The idea of going to class just makes you sad. It's just one of those days and you are not about going to class whatsoever.
2. Going over all the better things I could be doing.
There are 100 better things that you can come up with that would be better than you going to class — like sleeping — and that convinces you that skipping class today is a great idea.
3. Trying to remember how many classes you already missed.
You try to remember if it was this class or your history class that you've already skipped three times. Have I even missed any classes this semester?
4. Seeing how many classes you can miss.
You tear your room apart trying to find the syllabus to see if this is the professor that only lets you skip two classes before she starts taking away points from your grade.
5. Going back and forth on skipping or going.
Now you've been thinking about skipping for so long that you think you might as well go at this point, but at the same time, you really don't want to go. You really have no idea what to do, so you just sit there and think about it for even longer.
6. You need someone to just tell you that it's OK to skip.
Mom would say no, but just ask your roommate or best friend and they will reassure you that it is OK to miss class today.
7. You skip class.
Don't make a habit out of it, but it's OK to have one of those days when you feel like you need to skip class.
