UK-based Sony/ATV producer SRNO (pronounced Serrano) teams up with vocalist Naaz for his new single "Stay Sane" out today on Majestic Casual Records.
A synthesis of genres between dance and urban music, SRNO's style has deservedly seen massive support from a diverse range of tastemakers ranging from dance music icon Axwell to global fashion brand H&M. This isn't SRNO's first release with Majestic Casual—his first single, ‘Give It All Up,’ featuring Gia Koka, premiered with Majestic Casual as one of the hottest tracks of their Chapter 3 compilation. "Stay Sane" is a worthy follow up to his MC debut release that features soothing vocal work from Naaz, a melody that tugs at the heartstrings, and a sultry, yet playful vibe that makes it a listen for any occasion.
When I first played this track, I heard the first 8 measures—the melancholy tone of a gentle chord progression on piano, accompanied by the sound of water droplets. Naturally, I expected the following 2 minutes and 58 seconds to evoke a sad response as well, but I was proven wrong within 30 seconds. When the drum track comes in at what you might call the first drop, the song gains a light, airy, smiley quality—it comes across as both sad and happy throughout different points in the song, intentionally:
"It's about love and all the difficult decisions, ups and downs, and the mixed emotions love creates and how it affects your mindstate and as much as it does we try to remain sane." -SRNO
Broadly, this tune is extremely catchy and movable, with the soft, beautiful voice of Naaz floating right on top. Definitely worth checking out here:
