Recently, I temporarily lost power in my house. This is a usual occurrence, but the way in which I lost the power is rather atypical. The weather was clear, and it was super odd that my house suddenly became pitch black. After speaking with neighbors, my family and I discovered that apparently a squirrel chewed through a wire. What a funny way to lose power, huh? I wonder what ever provoked the squirrel to gnaw on the wire! However, I do have some theories, which are as follows:
1. The squirrel forgot to each breakfast.![]()
2. The squirrel was curious to see what wire tastes like.
3. The squirrel felt lie getting electrocuted. The squirrel enjoyed darkness.
4.The people in the neighborhood were pissing off the squirrel, so she wanted to piss them off as revenge.
5.The squirrel was attempting to save the environment by preserving energy and power.
6. The squirrel mistook the wire for food.
8.The squirrel did not understand that wires aren’t edible![]()
9.The squirrel wanted to appear on the news.
10. The squirrel wanted to become a famous wire-eating squirrel.
11.The squirrel wanted people to talk about her.
12.The squirrel wanted to cause a scene.
While I can never speak for the squirrel and her actions, because she cannot communicate her motives to me, I think that my ideas are valid. Next time you have a power outage, do not assume that it occurred for any of the normal power outage reasons. Who knows? You could live in a “squirrel eating wire” community like me!
