The last few weeks of the semester are often the most stressful. Between studying for finals, finishing up projects, and constantly daydreaming about winter break, it is important to find time to relieve stress. Cooking, working out, writing, and creating art are great ways to relieve stress during the last few weeks of the semester.
Inspired by my favorite I-SPY Scholastics Books from my childhood, I decided to create this FUN, QUICK, DIY I-SPY page to help escape from the Winter Blues! Here is my I-SPY photo and rhyme:
I spy three brushes, one 6, two clips, five “L”’s, something that zips, and something that clicks. I spy four items to wear, two silver 9’s, and a box of something you can share. I spy the name of a queen and something used to clean.
I challenge YOU to take fifteen-twenty minutes out of your day and take a photo for the "I-Spy DIY" challenge! Once you create your I-Spy picture, post it in the comments on this article and upload it to Instagram using the hashtag #ispyDIYchallenge! I will feature the most creative and best I-SPY DIYs in my next Odyssey article!
The steps to completing this DIY Challenge are simple. First, select a theme. My theme was the color blue, but you could pick almost anything to use as your theme. Thanksgiving, November, Christmas, Winter, any color, office supplies, or items you can find in your closet are themes that I am going to try out next. You can honestly make any theme work! Next, pick out a variety of items that fit your theme and organize them on a solid-colored background. I recommend using at least 18 items so that your picture will be fun and challenging. You can use a coffee table or a white pasteboard from the dollar store as your background. Once you arrange your items, photograph it from an ariel perspective. Then study your photo and create a rhyme of items that you can "spy" in your photo.
Using products with labels is a fun way to hide letters, but you can also find hidden letters and numbers on everyday objects (Like the two silver nines on the blue clothespins in my picture). You can also use shadows and mirrors to make your picture more challenging!
