For Summer Leaders, waving farewell to Day Camp comes with all the sad feels.

What You'll Miss About SpringHill Day Camp
SpringHill Camps

A week or more of training, two months of camp, a bunch of laughs, a smattering of tears, a multitude of memories, 30+ new friends, hundreds of campers and a whole lot of Jesus. You lived it and loved it, being a Summer Leader for SpringHill Day Camps.

Your next task: coping with post-camp life. Maybe you're jumping into school for the fall, or maybe you get a few weeks of lull time before life takes off again. Regardless, you are definitely going to miss camp. Here are just a few of what you will miss!

1. Your Teammates

You've become like a well-oiled machine! Running a portable day camp with your team has made you see them as more than just co-workers. That team of a bunch of strangers at the beginning summer is now your second family and sadly, you'll soon be leaving them. Make sure you thank them for all they have done to make your summer unforgettable!

2. Black and Yellows

Hauling these suckers into the trailer every Friday and into the next church site every Sunday is not necessarily fun. But, working with your teammates can be a good time and it's easier to lug around these big totes than to carry a ton of smaller, flimsy cardboard boxes.

3. Mini Rallies

Recognized God's potential in a camper's individuality? Check. Made a proud mom cry? Check.

4. Gospel Wednesday

It's mid-week, and you're exhausted, but God is good, and SpringHill is intentional about designating a time for kids to have the opportunity to accept Jesus as their forever friend! Spending such a beautiful time with hearts opening to Christ is something that is hopefully not ending for you, but this season of Gospel Wednesdays has come to an end.

5. Your Setup Team

They may get on your nerves sometimes but they have become like your brothers and sisters. Whether you were saving lives for high ad or sweating and bleaching for water, you worked together FTK and FTL (for the Lord)!

6. The Olympic Skit

You watched that cheesy humor for what seemed like a million times but you may have been glad because seeing your ADs in funny costumes brought you joy every day. You'll certainly miss the sub-par accents of Coach Z, Rune, Tilda, Ivan, and Brody that voiced heartwarming truths in the daily skit.

7. Higher Grounds

Worshipping at a stranger's house on Tuesday night was always so refreshing. God is good!

8. Skittle Skattle Battle

Riling up kids with a team cheer and watching them run around in a candy-driven frenzy every Friday was pretty awesome, wasn't it?

9. Tie-Dye Hands

A few days on your hands, forever on your clothes! Tie-Dye Tuesday meant tie-dye hands for a day or two. What a good reminder those hands were of how colorful God makes life!!!

10. Crowns For Jesus

Though sometimes getting kids to link hands was a challenge, it was worth it to teach a message of being one body in Christ. You'll surely miss making crowns with your teammates and campers alike.

Whether you are wrapping up your last week of camp or are completely finished, be sure to make the most of the summer by reflecting on all that God has done! Take all that you learned and apply it to your non-camp life. Above all, keep excitedly sharing the Gospel and continue to open your eyes to what God has to teach you. Though camp may be ending, your story with Him is not.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
