5 Reasons Why Spring Rush is Better than Fall Rush

When you are a freshman in college and all of your friends get their bids to sororities at different schools, it can be hard to think that Spring Rush has any benefit. I went to a school that had spring rush and here is why I think that it is better than fall rush.

1. You Get to Know Each Sorority

Instead of having to rely on first impressions or rumors, you get to know each sorority well. Also the sororities get to know you, which enables girls to find a perfect fit. I have known many girls who went through rush in the fall and ended up not liking the sorority that they ended up in.

2. You Don't Have to Go to College A Week Early

You are already nervous enough about the fact that you are moving to a completely new place with new obstacles that you will have to over come, but first you have to go through the stressful process call rush? No thank you. For Spring Rush at least you have settled into the college atmosphere.

3. You End Up Having Friends in Many Sororities

Because you do not rush until the spring, you are forced to make friends with everyone in your year. Chances are all of your friends will not end up in the same sorority. Therefore, once you have rushed, the friends you made first semester will continue to be your friends, even though they are in different sororities.

4. There Is Less Sorority Rivalry

Don't get me wrong, there is still rivalry when intramurals are played and in competitions that the school hosts. Because of rush happening in the spring, you have more friends in a various amount of sororities. This creates less tension between sororities because you are more likely to have friends in different sororities.

5. You Get to Find Out Who You Are

You have just graduated from high school and now you are finally in a place where you can start over. Instead of rushing into a sorority and surrounding yourself with mandatory friends once you get to college, you are able to make friends on your own and figure out who you want to be in this new stage of life.

Even if you are seriously wishing that you had fall rush at your school and you don't understand why you have to wait so long to be in a sorority, take the time to figure out what you want our of your 4 (or more) years of college. I also want to remind you that being in a sorority is not the most important thing in the world. It is fun to be in a close organization, but if greek life doesn't work out your college will have plenty more extra curricular activities that you can participate in.

Creating your schedule for the upcoming semester can be an exciting process. You have the control to decide if you want to have class two-days a week or five-days a week. You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
