I'm sure every college student has not thought once about spring cleaning and going through all of their stuff and cleaning things out. It's about time you throw away the empty potato chip bags under your bed from 3 months ago and wash the coffee mugs laying by your dresser.
College students are lazy and we hate cleaning unless you're a clean freak. Without our parents cleaning up our messes, things can get pretty gross. This doesn't just include throwing away our trash but cleaning up the dirt in the bathroom or kitchen. It can seem scary for us college students, but here are some ways to make it easier for you and hopefully it will improve your everyday motivation.

1. Clean out your closet.

Closets are the worst when it comes to hoarding things. College kids like to just shove everything in there when they're cleaning up fast or dirty laundry piles up in there. Start off with your closet and go through everything that's in there. Sell some of the old stuff that you never wear to Plato's Closet or some other consignment store and use that money for more clothes or for something else. Organize it, color code it and make it look neat so that it won't get messy so fast. Make it spacious enough in there so that things don't get disorganized so fast.
2. Get the cleaning supplies out.

Remember that big box of cleaning supplies your parents gave you for college and you just stashed away under your bed because you never thought you would use it? Take it out, it's time to use them for once. Get the vacuum out and clean as much as you can. Cleaning up your dorm or apartment will help improve how fresh everything will feel and will probably get rid of the stench you never thought you had. Get rid of the dirt and bacteria that lingers around because that's gross and is probably why you get sick so much.
3. Rearrange your room.

Rearrange the furniture in your room and try to implement new ways of organizing everything. Moving things around will probably help you find that missing earring you've been looking for or that one top you wore out and never could find again. You'll be able to clean spots that haven't been cleaned in months. It will also bring you a fresh start.
4. Get rid of the expired food.

Stop ignoring the rotting apples in your fridge or the expired and stale cereal in the cabinet. Get rid of the stuff that you can't even eat anymore and make room to go grocery shopping. You'll be able to cook a lot more and stop yourself from eating out all the time. Plus, your fridge will thank you.
5. Air everything out.

Open up some windows or open doors and get some candles or air fresheners. Bring back a good smell that will stay for a while and get rid of the stench. It will smell all fresh and clean and when you have guests over, I'm sure they'll appreciate it.
Hopefully, these tips will lead you in the right direction. Spring cleaning isn't fun but let it motivate you enough to know that you'll feel awesome after doing it.
