“Stay for four…” or for more… whatever, that’s not how it goes BUT you’re finally graduating!! You are about to LEAVE the beautiful city of Tuscaloosa, AL. How are you going to spend these next couple of months before the real world kicks in? Let's finish this semester without regrets. Make it the best years of our life. Here is a bucket list that will help you do so:

Use the rest of your dining dollars.

Or it turns into real $$$ but I mean for real, how easy is it to blow your dining dollars in the first two months of the semester? This one won’t be hard.

Do a “bar crawl.”

You’re probably like “meh, whatever, I do this every weekend… but I'm talking about EVERY bar.” Even the least liked bars.

Collect as many Gallette’s cups as you can this year because you’ll only come back occasionally (more than likely during football season).

***Let’s be smart here, we have Uber now!! (Take the Harry’s bus to Harry’s if you’re with a big group!)

Visit your old dorm.

Find a freshman that can get you into your old dorm. You’ll remember where pictures were taken, which stalls/showers were the best and who knows maybe your old RA is still there.

Visit the Old Bryce Hospital.

This is an old mental hospital in Northport, AL. It has been abandoned for years. It has been graffitied and vandalized over the years by students and many other people who just know about the place. The road to get to the hospital has many holes so I wouldn’t go in a low car like I did (haha). Whenever I went, It was daylight as you can see, and I was still scared of the place.

Go to a concert at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater.

The Tuscaloosa Amphitheater has had many great’s perform. From Dave Matthews Band, Darius Rucker, Ben Rector, Rascal Flatts, Train, and Chris Stapleton, you don’t want to miss what they have this spring. To view the schedule/buy tickets, go here.

Take a dog out for happy hour from the Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter.

They offer a “Happy Hour” on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday’s with hours between 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. If you have a valid driver’s license, you can take one of their puppy’s (of your choice) out for the day. The is awesome for the dogs to get out and get some exercise and also great for you guys to relieve some stress from school or work with a bundle of joy of a dog to play with. For more information: http://www.metroanimalshelter.org/happy-hour/

Attend as many spring athletic events.

With basketball, baseball, softball, gymnastics, tennis, etc in full swing this spring it’s a nice time to put your ACT card to use and go see those events for “free” and cheer on your fellow students. For a full schedule visit: http://www.rolltide.com/calendar.aspx

Eat in a dining hall.

We know it’s horrible. Eat at Fresh Foods, (I guess that’s better than the others). It’ll bring back those freshman memories where you had to eat there for either sorority recruitment or either just freshman year in general.

Eat at City Cafe.

After destroying your digestive system at the dining hall, go enjoy some delicious food at City Cafe in Northport, AL.

Get a snow cone at Summer Snow.

You can start enjoying shaved ice at Summer Snow in April. The place can’t travel with you so get it while you can.

Go to Day Parties.

Or "darites/darty's". Whatever you prefer to call them. The fraternities will have beer (unless they run out) and sometimes food (mmm, crawfish)!

Graduate.

Don’t slack on your last semester of classes. First of all, come to terms that you’re actually graduating. Hopefully, you’ve applied for jobs or have one lined up now because now it’s time to go out into the real world. (Scary, exciting? You are to tell). Last but not least, take this semester seriously, but have the best time of your life. You don’t get to do this again.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
