You enjoy being off for the week. It's halfway through the semester, and laying in bed all day sounds like the best idea. Before you watch every Friends episode in history (you will do that), here are eight other ways to make your spring break great.
1. Take a trip.
You can go anywhere within close driving distance. Just search on Google maps. If you want to go far away, check out Daytona beach.
2. Purge your closet.
After service days, Greek Week and campus giveaways, you have plenty of T-shirts. You might have those pants from high school that just don't fit right. Now is the right time to do some spring cleaning. It's an even better time to think about summer or business clothes that you need to shop for.
3. Sleep.
Do not pass up the time to catch up on your sleep. You'll come back refreshed. Health.com outlines additional benefits of sleep that you might not have dreamt up.
4. Read.
Now is the best time to catch up on those books you missed! Did you read Fifty Shades of Grey or just see the movie? It doesn't matter. There are endless books to read. A study by Quick Reads found that "one in five (19%) of readers say that reading stops them from feeling lonely." You can always read The Odyssey.
5. Get off technology.
It's hard when our phones, watches, laptops and tablets are everywhere, but you have plenty of opportunities to bond with family or friends. Go outside when the weather is warm or play a board game. The Settlers of Catan is definitely a trending game.
6. Make a new dish.
When you have a kitchen at your disposal, there is nothing like the smell of fresh baked cookies. I am super excited about these spinach crepes. You can also go for more summery piña colada squares.
7. Secure your your summer plans.
Congrats if you already have a job/internship/study abroad trip planned, but there is still plenty of time to network, interview and meet people. Check out your school's LinkedIn alumni network. Don't stress. Get excited.
8. Just do that homework assignment.
There seems to always be that one professor who assigns something due the Tuesday after you get back to school. There is a fork in the road leading to two paths: write the essay over break, or the night before when you are back at school.
Most importantly, have fun and stay safe!
