6 Ways You Can Enjoy Spring Break If You Do Not Go Away

Not going on a vacation for spring break doesn't mean your week is going to be boring.

I write this article right after my last class before spring break, and spring break is all I can think about. This is pretty typical for most people this time of year. You're overworked, you just need a break, midterms are ending, and you need to recover from all the studying you just did.

So, a lot of people take this time to go away and forget about the pressures of school. They go somewhere warm and live their best tropical life, and that is great! I am not one of those people, however. I am staying home for spring break and I have never been more excited.

I do not know why the idea that spring break is meant to be a mini vacation, but I think staying home is just as great as going away. Here are six ways you can enjoy spring break even if you do not go away.

1. You have a chance to catch up or get ahead on your school work.

Okay, so I know I said that spring break is a time to take a break from school, but we all know there is that one professor who makes an essay due the Monday after the break. Or maybe you've been swamped with course work from one class, so now you're behind on other classes.

Whatever the case may be, this is your chance to do this work without worrying that you won't have enough time to finish it. This will give you peace of mind once the break is over.

2. You can take the time off to knock out the things on your to-do list that you've been too busy to do.

Maybe you need more paper towels in your house. Maybe you need to get everything in order to graduate, or maybe you just need to have some "you time." Whatever it is, this is the time to take care of things.

3. If you really love your job, now is a great time to pick up more shifts.

I know, spring break is a time to relax. However, while everyone is away spending their money, you can be working, earning more money. Then, take that longer, better vacation in the summer.

4. You can sleep however long you want.

You have one week where you do not have to get up for that 8 A.M. class. You don't have to worry about being late because you overslept or got stuck behind a school bus. This is your time, and you can sleep as much as you want.

5. You can hang out with that friend who is always busy.

This works best if you attend the same college, or both of your colleges have spring break around the same time as each other. Nevertheless, you now have a week where you can make it a plan to hang out and catch up. Even if it is for only a day or three hours, it is better than nothing.

6. You can binge watch that show you've been meaning to catch up on.

From the comfort of your own home, dorm, apartment, wherever you'll be on your staycation, you can just binge watch anything and everything without the worry of school getting in the way.

Spring break is a great time of year. If you are planning to go away for it, I hope you have a blast. If you aren't going away this spring break, it doesn't mean that you're not going to enjoy it any less than the person who went away.

How people want to spend their time varies, and just because a lot of people go away this time of year, it does not mean you have to.

It is that time of year again. Christmastime. It is one of my favorite seasons for a myriad of reasons. Here are just a few reasons why I love Christmas. This list is in no order of importance.

1. The Christmas decorations

I am that person who will decorate directly after Thanksgiving is over. This year, my roommates and I put the tree up in our apartment before we even left for Thanksgiving break. It is a great stress reliever for me to just sit in my living room and work on the huge amount of work I have before the semester is over.

Mistakes are something we all make, no matter how old we get. Most of the time, the mistakes we made are little and sometimes due to something out of our control. Yet, there are mistakes that are bigger than others. Personally, I have mistakes that I wish I could go back and undo. Here they are:

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?
