As spring break is rapidly approaching, many college students find themselves doing all in their power to get as much of their work done as possible. Between having to take midterms and having a heavy workload, everybody is dying to go on Spring Break as soon as possible.
The buzz around campus, besides moaning and groaning about college, is people talking about their plans for the approaching week off from classes. People start talking about the summer and beaches, and the gym starts getting incredibly packed at all hours of the day. There is no doubt that spring break season is here and is going to stay.
Spring break is the ultimate college experience, unless you are staying home or going somewhere with a cold climate. It is a week to spend with your best friends, where you can travel to a warm place to simply relax and party. Unlike other vacations, there are very few rules that come along with spring break. However, there are a few warnings to be given to ensure that college students come out of Spring Break alive and well.
So whether you are going to Myrtle Beach, Miami, the Bahamas, Aruba or any other tropical paradise, there are many tips and tricks in which college students should know as Spring Break arrives. Specifically, I have a message for college girls going on Spring Break.
Girls, please no matter what happens, remember your worth. You do not need society’s idea of an “ideal bikini body” to have a fun spring break. Body image among young women these days has been taking a dramatic plummet. Therefore, being surrounded by a thousand other girls in their swimsuits isn’t exactly the most ideal thing to do. But why? Why is it that liking our bodies is seen as a problem?
As females, we tend to have a bad habit of complaining about our own bodies and comparing and contrasting ourselves to others. You need to keep in mind that you are beautiful way that you are and everybody is unique. Comparing yourself to the other girls you see is never a good idea. Nobody is perfect! Each and every one of us has a different body type and with that comes many different looks.
When you really think about it, adding the stress of what you look like is no fun, especially when the reason you’re going on this vacation is to relax. In efforts to feel like your best self on Spring Break, bring clothes you’re going to feel good in, especially when it comes to your swimsuit. The models we always see and compare ourselves to have unattainable bodies so it’s okay if we don’t’ look like them.
One last thing to think about before you go is that whoever invited you to go on spring break didn’t invite you because of how you look. They invited you because they want someone to have a great and memorable time with. Remember to be safe and embrace your body so you can have a wild and fun break!
