Spring Break To-Do List

Spring Break To-Do List

No matter where your Spring break adventures may take you, keep in mind what you plan to accomplish. Whether that may be finally getting to milk Big Bessie on grandma’s farm, hiking Mount Everest just for the Insta, or knocking back some fruity drink in the sand underneath the limbo bar. After all that pent up stress and frustrations you’ve endured through classes so far, it’s time to wind down and have fun on spring break.

  1. Relax: School can really bury you in a hole if you let it. Finally, after weeks of hell endured, you  can do you. Kick your feet up and just sit there. There’s never a moment when I’m in West Lala and I feel the freedom to just bum it. In the back of my mind, there’s always something I should or could be doing. So enjoy the time away to just sit there and stare pointlessly into the distance. Although bizarre, can you really feel that bliss any other time of the school year?
  2. Document Everything: The best part of spring break is coming back to school and looking through all of the pictures you may have taken while you were away. Comparing everyone’s stories, whether you remember where the picture came from or not, is always a hilarious experience.
  3. Do it for the Insta: We always generate these amazing ideas of all the fun things we are going to do while we have our freedom. But so many times, do we shirk off these plans out of laziness or lack of motivation. I know more than anyone how lovely it is to just sit around for countless hours, but c’mon. We are young, we are beautiful, so let’s do something crazy. Hike that mountain, get up at 5 a.m. to watch the sunrise from a cool spot, make a gourmet meal, eat something exotic (please no bugs), anything possible you can think of to make your spring break noteworthy. When I feel melted to the couch but I want to get up and do something, I remember the motivational quote: Do it for the Insta.
  4. Read a book: Fifty Shades of Grey?
  5. Utilize a Selfie-Stick: Yeah, we make fun of these all the time, but let’s see whose laughing when I have the dopest short film compiled of all the weird, crazy, embarrassing times I had over my break. Layer that over some rad music? Sick bro.
  6. Exercise: Although we have all most likely worked on our spring break bods in some way one or another, it's never a time to stop that streak of good health! But instead of just hitting the gym everyday like you may be used to doing, try something different. Go horseback riding, adventure into the outdoors on a backpacking trip, play soccer on the beach with a group of rowdy friends, anything that gets you moving in a fun way you wouldn’t be able to do otherwise.

Whatever you end up deciding to do, wherever you end up going, make sure to do something fun, crazy, and adventurous. Lastly, always remember: YOLO.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
