The weather is slowly getting warmer (sort of). Midterm grades are coming in. A buzz of restless energy hums through the air, whispering promises of sunshine, tan lines, and good times. Spring break is on its way, and if you're anything like me, you are MORE than ready to kick back and relax, at least a little.

Most people jump on the first plane or pack up the car immediately heading for anywhere but here, and you can't blame them. Indiana winters can be frigid, but what happens when you're one of the few stuck here with nothing to do?

You don't have to sit inside jealously scrolling through your social media feeds watching all your friends having the time of their lives and getting tan while doing so.

Instead, apply some fake tan, and have a blast with some of these fun activities in good 'ole Indiana.

1. Stay-cation

Go to a nice hotel in your area, or travel to a major city such as Indianapolis or Carmel, and treat yourself to a weekend of luxury. Take a dip in the pool, lounge in the hot tub, go shopping around town, and explore new restaurants. You'll come back feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the second half of the semester.

2. Get Outside

Don't spend your time sleeping on your parent's couch, eating all their food, and binge-watching Netflix. Get outside! By this time, weather should be on your side (fingers crossed). Indiana is full of great parks and trails great for hiking or just playing around with a frisbee or soccer ball so you can soak up some Vitamin D and enjoy yourself while doing so.

3. Take a Tour

How well do you really know Indiana? If you take the time to explore, you might find that it's actually a pretty cool place to live. In fact, linked below is a pre-planned trip taking you through Fort Wayne, Huntington, and Northern Indiana. You'll get to explore botanical gardens, taste decadent chocolates, dip your toes in the water in Lake County, and grab a pop from your choice of 60 flavors in Huntington at Antiqology!

4. Adventure

Broaden your horizons, and do something you've never done before. Indiana offers a broad range of attractions no matter where you're located. Find a trampoline park, go to an arcade, play lazer tag, go to the zoo, or test your aim at a gun range!

5. Broaden Your Mind

Indiana has tons of museums to interest everyone. Spend the day exploring, and learn as you go! Or, if you're looking for something a little more hands-on, explore a cave! There are several to choose from, and you'll learn a lot while exploring a new place.

As you can see, you don't have to travel far to have a great Spring Break. All it takes is a little inspiration and creativity, and you'll have so much fun you'll forget to be jealous of those in Florida... well, maybe just a little.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
