Spring break is so underrated; it is a time to actually have a week to decompress in the middle of the semester, be with your friends and get a nice tan while doing so. As I am mentally packing for my own trip, I am noticing that there are certain things that I bring almost every year. I am here to give you a spring break survival guide on what the truly important things are to pack.

There’s no more need to stress: I’ll handle the packing, you just enjoy the vacation!

1. Sunglasses

Unless you enjoy being blinded by the sun and seeing spots for days, always remember to bring your sunglasses. Whether they are Ray-Ban, Target brand or Maui Jim’s, they are absolutely a necessity. Trust me, you do not want to spend your first day on vacation going to one of those cheesy gift stores to pick out a pair of overpriced, novelty shades.

2. A hat

No matter how much hair you have on your head, BRING A HAT. I promise you that after day two of your vacation, your scalp will be burning so badly from the sun. Thankfully, having a hat is a simple preventative measure you can take.

3. Sunscreen and tanning oil

Snuggling up with a good book is such a relaxing way to spend your spring break. Avoiding your hectic life and entering the world of a book is a perfect way to take your mind off of all the deadlines and to-do lists waiting for you at home.

5. A speaker

Regardless if you are lying by the pool or if sand is being blown in your face at the beach, music is always a great idea. You can play some popular country music, Kanye or even heavy metal. It does not matter what you listen to, as long as you listen to music!

6. Oversized t-shirts

An oversized T-shirt is one of the easiest things you can pack that you can wear as both pajamas and a swimsuit cover-up. Just trust me on this one, you won’t regret it.

7. A sweatshirt

Although the weather may be nice during the day, it most likely will get chilly at night. Be sure to bring some pants and long sleeves to have just in case.

Although the list could go on and on, these seven items are the ones that stand out or tend to get forgotten. Have an amazing, relaxing and fun spring break!!!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
