Hello everybody! Guess what? Spring is finally here! That's right. The snow is finally melting. The birds are finally chirping. Those randomly large bugs that walk on my window screen are finally back as well! Especially coming out of a dragging winter (@that stupid March snowstorm), Spring is a wonderful time of the year in Upstate New York. Here's a list of some activities that I'm really looking forward to this year in Oneonta:

1) Becoming a college brochure

Everybody in Oneonta loves the Spring because we can finally come out of the caves we call dorm rooms and apartments! The campus is full of students playing catch or can jam, or just chilling out in a hammock or something. The vibes are all around great, and I'm definitely looking forward to catching a frisbee at some point in the near future.

2) Homework and chill by the Hunt Union pond

So homework/studying is not the most fun you can have in the spring. But one of my favorite images I have of college is everyone hanging out by the Hunt Union pond on the first exceedingly warm day of spring. People bring their laptops, get some Starbucks iced coffee, and enjoy the warmth that we missed so much.

3) Going out to the bars without having anxiety about potentially losing your jacket

Once the temperature gets high enough toward the end of April, bringing your coat to the bars will become a thing of the past. Being someone who has lost their jacket at a bar before, I am especially looking forward to this.

4) Exploring the forrest

Another one of my favorite college memories was when a bunch of my friends and I went to hang out in the park on an 80 degree April day. We ended up walking up a path through the forrest that I never knew about, and eventually ended up near a stream, where we opened a bottle of champagne. Though I got the worst sunburn of my life that day, it was a very picturesque scenario, and one of my favorite days of college.

5) Grillside Commons

I failed to do this in the fall, but in the spring I will be sure to check this off my bucket list. On a nice day, I am going to use the grills at Hillside (my apartment complex), and have a big barbecue with my friends. There's no better way to kick off spring than with a classic barbecue.

6) Oh Fest and the preceding dage

Weather dependent, I'm definitely looking forward to the day festivities of Oh Fest, which normally include a nice day drink. Hopefully, my last semester of college brings on a killer spring.

8 Stereotypes Sorority Girls Are Tired Of Hearing

We don't buy into these... just like how we don't buy our friends.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
