me

It's a new year and a new season which means New Anime!! Are you stuck watching reruns of anime you've already watched and are looking for something new? Well look no further than this list! Here I will compile a list of the top 11 new anime of Spring 2020. At first I was going to just compile a big list of 21 what I think will be standout anime of this season, but then I decided to break it up into two parts. Part one will feature all new anime. Meaning anime whose first season is premiering in 2020. While part 2 will feature is all returning anime - so, any anime whose additional season(s) will be premiering in 2020.

Get ready for a mind workout with this show. If you liked Pyscho-Pass or PsychoNauts you are sure to love this thriller-mystery combo. Now in prison, he helps the special sector of the police catch other criminals using a system called Id wells that allows criminals to be used to track down other criminals by slipping into their unconscious mind. Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun

https://pin.it/MRBzbt%2F

Yes, I know the title sounds weird but I promise you won't regret watching this. At Kamome Academy, there are rumors about the School's Seven Mysteries known as the seven most haunted places in the school. On such wonder would be Hanako-kun, a charming little ghost boy that haunts the third stall of the third-floor girls' bathroom in the old school building. When his paths cross with Nene Yashiro the two enter into a contract together. Together, they will help the good spirits of the school survive and explore the seven wonders one at a time. Even if you find yourself not that into the show you can't help but marvel at the beautiful watercolor artwork that makes up the design of the show. If you like offbeat school comedy or any lore about yokai, I suggest giving this a go.

Darwin’s Game

https://pin.it/8s18YUf

Have you ever wished that a video game your were playing was real? Well, that's exactly what happens in Darwin's Game; but as the saying goes, "be careful what you wish for."

Sudou Kaname is your average high schooler with a normal ordinary life; that is until he unexpectedly receives an invite to a popular new game called "Darwin's Game" as a last-ditch effort from his dying friend in hopes of getting saved. Upon entering the game, Kaname learns that players are all equipped with their own special ability called a sigil. With these powers it's an all-out free for all on anyone and everyone who's playing the game; only the strong will survive. Oh, and whatever happens in Darwin's game happens IRL too, so be careful not to die or it's Game Over permanently.

Babylon

Babylon is another great mystery thriller to add to your list. Now while I haven't seen it yet, from the clips and reviews it seems dark and gritty which is my kind of show. The story follows Seizaki Zen a prosecutor for the Tokyo District Public Prosecutor's Office. Seizaki finds himself dishing for evidence on a shady pharmaceutical company when he stumbles across a conspiracy surrounding an election for a mysterious "new zone" being established in West Tokyo.

Science Fell in Love So I Tried to Prove It

https://pin.it/nm4u%2FiI

What do you think would happen if two super nerds fell in love? Well, you're about to find out. Science Fell in Love So I Tried to Prove It follows Yukimura Shinya and Himuro Ayame, two scientists who are on a mission to find out if love can be proved using science. This whole mess comes about after the two realize they love each other but their rational brains, unfortunately, can't leave it alone. So the two end up working together to figure out if they can solve the equation of love instead of just using their hearts instead. Admittedly, I have not watched this yet but as soon as I heard the premise, I put it on my watchlist right away. This is another one of those anime that is entertaining and educational.

Plunderer

https://pin.it/3kPaVhI

Plunderer is a fantasy post-apocalyptic series set in a world where everyone is represented by a number. Their count is determinate on how they live their lives, but reach zero and you better watch out or you'll be sent to the abyss. After a long journey Shins finally finds the "Legendary Ace" Licht that she had been searching for since her mother went to the abyss. Follow the two on new adventures as they travel and explore the world and meet new people along the way.

A3

https://pin.it/2q6d3Za

A3 is a cute slice of life anime that follows several young boys as they dive into the world of stage acting and do their best to bring glory back to the old theatre house where they now perform. With the help of the former theater owner's daughter, the boys set out to become official stage actors and save their theatre from being shut down. So essentially if you like cute anime guys performing Shakespeare, this is for you.

The Case Files of Jeweler Richard

https://pin.it/DS6wC%2FJ

Having not seen this, I can't say for sure but based on the fanart and the series description, I believe there is going to be some wholesome gay content surrounding these two. The series follows Seigi Nakata and a pretty foreigner Richard Ranashinha Dvopian (Hot British guy) after a chance encounter between the two. Seigi happens to stumble across Richard being harassed by some drunk guys. Having a strong sense of justice, Seigi steps in and rescues Richard from the thugs. After finding out Richard is a jewel appraiser, he asks him to take a look at his grandmother's ring. After some new information about his grandmother comes to life, Seigi decides to take up part-time employment at the jewel shop. The two go on to solve many "mysteries" and as they do, their relationship evolves. This sounds like it will be a really good wholesome gay slice of life which I am here for.

Keep Your Hands Off Eizokuen!

https://pin.it/ykGtx55

The story follows a trio of teen girls who love anime so much they decide they absolutely have to create one of their own. Well, two of them do; the other one is just there to rake in the profits. Asakusa Midori wants to make an anime but doesn't have the confidence to do it alone. Enter her money-hungry best friend Kanamori Sakaya and an up-and-coming socialite Mizusaki Tsubame, and you now have a budding anime team. Asakusa's anime takes place in a sprawling fantasy world with a hug labyrinth that mimics the own twist and turns of their streets at home. The op for this anime is a good representation of what this anime is like - wacky, zany and just downright bizarre. It's like the artist and animators were like let's create a cool opening that represents the show, and then they took acid. This is the result. It's a stark contrast to most op's which include deep metaphors and essentially spoilers for the whole series. For boys, this would be the equivalent of the Torture Dance from JoJo.

Smile Down the Runway

https://pin.it/NelnV2j

So if you're an anime fan - even a small one, at that - then you know the most predominant type of anime genre out there is Shonen. Shonen anime is the production result of Shonen Jump, a weekly anthology featuring the top shonen anime of the time featured in a magazine-style. Typically, Shonen is geared towards teen boys with long-running shows that feature a young male protagonist with lots of big fight scenes and dangerous adventure. Now don't get me wrong, I love pretty much all the typical Shonen anime, but it's nice to see they are recognizing boys aren't the only demographic out there. Smile Down the Runway is a Shonen anime (yes I said Shonen) about Fujito Chiyuki, an aspiring fashion model. The show somewhat recycles the same formula of several sports anime by having the protagonist be too short to actively compete in their desired field. But, of course, they will find a way to overcome this and achieve their dreams. (Don't get me wrong, I love Haikyuu but there were so many options to go with for this show, and they chose height which feels like a cop-out - so, at the very least, it has some more aspects to explore as they focus on the fashion industry.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
