Growing up, I've had the amazing opportunity to travel, especially internationally. It's taught me a great deal and I've been able to learn how to be more grateful and to never take advantage of how great my life has been and the experiences I've had the chance to have.
There have been several things traveling has taught me, but one of the most important ones is appreciation. Whether it be of Earth's natural beauty, the people who inhabit it or the dreams I can pursue as an individual. I am lucky enough to be a citizen of a great country with such freedoms to travel and some people will never have that.
I've also embraced the idea of travel being the best education a person can get. Every country has their national monuments, art, and history. Of course, you can take a class and learn any of that out of a textbook, but traveling gives you a first-hand insight into the background of the country. More so, you get a first-hand look at their healthcare, education, hospitality services and so much more.
You can always try to make an itinerary for every minute of every hour of every day but just give up! You may see a street vendor that will throw you off or maybe a museum is closed. In that case, go with the flow! Traveling isn't meant to be so strict but instead to take in the views and enjoy your trip. Do what you want to do and be flexible, things don't always go the way we want them to, and that's okay.
Last but not least, be spontaneous, enjoy the sights around you, and live in the moment. There are so many exotic places to visit but there are also the classic spots too that will leave you in awe. Travel to the place that interests you and take in every aspect of the culture. Some places will be more culture shocking than others. Embrace it. You only get one life so make sure to add the experiences that will make it your own whether it be for leisure, missionary work or natural disaster aid. With that said, go order that plane ticket you've been dying to buy. I promise you, you won't regret it in the end.
