It has been a few years since both platforms of music listening took off but the battle of which is better still continues. Some people have loyalty to Spotify while others were quick to jump ship over to Apple Music.

Both are great for downloading music on the go. They both offer the user a lot of freedom with their options. Spotify and Apple music each have their own individual pros and cons and below are just a few of my discoveries on the matter to get to the bottom of which is best.

People all over the world use Spotify as their main method of music. There is the option of keeping the regular format which contains ads or paying for premium which has no ads as well as a few added bonuses. Either way, the user can create any number of playlists of his or her choice.

Spotify also creates some playlists of its own. For example, with hit artists, such as Hozier and The Lumineers, the Afternoon Acoustics playlist offers just what you are looking for on a chill, lazy afternoon. Although these artists are extremely talented, one of the best parts about the playlist is that many of the artists are more under the radar. It offers listeners a chance to hear new music that may be generally out of their comfort zone. It is perfect for tuning in while doing homework or studying.

The Workout playlist offers total motivation. With many hit tunes, it keeps you active and staying on task. The songs are upbeat to ensure you stay moving. The playlist holds two hours and forty-seven minutes of music which allows the listener to not have any repeats during his or her workout routine.

There is also a New Music Friday playlist which showcases the new hits from that week. With the premium package, you can select songs for your own queue as well. Overall, Spotify is about giving you music you love as well as opening you up to possible new favorites.

Apple Music has really taken off in recent years. Many say it has more song options than Spotify, but that is up to user opinion. It also allows for users to shuffle songs, create playlists or explore ones made for you. At $9.99 a month, it is equivalent to the price of Spotify premium.

A major perk of Apple music is how it syncs to your phone and Apple account. This means that music you have purchased or enjoyed in the past is all right there in one convenient spot. It has also been made known to be great for car ride listening. All you have to do is say “Siri, shuffle my hits playlist” and you are set.

So, which is better? You can't beat live music but both are suitable alternatives. When it comes down to it, there is no definitive answer to which is better. It is worth testing out both to discover your own personal favorite. In my opinion, I believe Spotify offers more opportunities for ascertaining music with its many suggestions as well as the feature of allowing you to see your friend’s playlists. It has worked really well for me over the last few years. On the whole, they are very similar so give both a try before counting one out.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
