Whether you're doing homework, working out, or just need some good music to play, playlists are a life necessity. We need music, whether it's to change our mood, to hear someone who feels the way we do, to experience art, or just to kill time. However, playlists take serious time to build, and sometimes we don't have the repertoire to build such playlists. Luckily, Spotify has all sorts of playlists available at our fingertips, even if you don't pay for Premium. Here are Spotify playlists for a variety of situations.

If you're interested in finding your own favorite playlists, go to the Browse tab on Spotify. I found all of these playlists by searching specifically under Genres & Moods.

1. Homework

This is my favorite Spotify playlist of all time. I'm a person who needs music to focus on homework, but if that music has lyrics, then I focus too much on the lyrics and not enough on my homework. So I listen to Electronic Concentration, which is mostly electronic instrumental with only the occasional lyric. The playlist ranges from slow and ambient to upbeat and groovy. If you're not into electric music, not every song will be for you, but I think it's worth a look despite your music taste. My personal favorite is I Need a Forest Fireby James Blake.

2. Relaxation

Peaceful Piano is my perfect relaxation playlist. It's the kind of music that you listen to with your eyes closed and your mind clear. I usually will listen to it when I'm taking a bath, struggling to fall asleep, or when it's been a stressful day. Also recommended for ballerinas.

3. Creation

When it's time to get the creative juices flowing, I listen to Brain Food. It's similar to Electronic Concentration, but with more lyrics, more upbeat songs, and less ambiance. That being said, it does have a few ambient tracks if that's what you prefer.

If you're not into electronic music, then Creativity Boost would fit your needs better. These are tracks that are a little on the unusual side to help you feel inspired. While there are some electronic artists on here such as the xx, Kiiara, and Marian Hill, there are also indie and alternative tracks.

4. Singing with friends

We all have those times when you just want to sing with your friends, and this is the perfect playlist to do it. It's got all the classics, ranging from Simon & Garfunkel to Adele. Essentially, these are songs that everyone should know. It's also good for singing in the shower (hence the name), and for when you need a good throwback.

5. Chilling with friends

I find that this is a good playlist for when you have wide variety of music tastes in the room... as long as everyone sort of likes pop, it works out! The songs aren't too well known, so it's also a good way to make some discoveries if you're into pop music.

6. Dance party

This playlist is full of modern songs that are upbeat that most people know the lyrics to with artists like Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Ke$ha, and Rihanna. It's also a good alternative to Songs to Sing in the Shower if you're looking for something more current.

7. Working out

This is a rock and alternative based workout playlist with artists like Paramore, Fall Out Boy, Jimmy Eat World, Guns N' Roses, and Foo Fighters. The songs are high energy to help motivate you for your workout!

Beast Mode is a mix of hip hop and rock with artists like Eminem, Kanye West, Metallica, and System of a Down, perfect for an intense workout.

Here's a workout playlist for those who like something a little more alternative, such as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, CHVRCHES, and Modest Mouse.

8. Road trip!

Just like Songs to Sing in the Shower and Dance Workout, these are songs for you and your friends to sing to, which is absolutely necessary for any road trip. It's a mix of old and new, with tracks from the Jackson 5, Spice Girls, the Weeknd, and Lukas Graham.

9. A Bad Day

We all have bad days. They're inevitable. The good news is that any bad day can be turned around, and this playlist can be the first step. Music is a powerful mood changer, so this is my go-to playlist for when I need to boost my mood!

10. Sleep

Besides Peaceful Piano, this is my other go-to sleeping playlist. It's instrumental acoustic and folk, which I find to be a bit more entertaining than piano music. This playlist is particularly good for those who can fall asleep with a little sound around them, since not all of the songs are slow and calming like in Peaceful Piano.

If you do need something a bit calmer, chill.out.brain or Sleep would be good for you.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
