I am one of those people who have to be listening to something in order to focus. Otherwise I end up looking at all the people sitting around me in the library and get nothing done. If you are like me and are looking for some change in your studying tastes, here is a list of my favorite playlists for getting sh*t done.

1. Peaceful Piano

Mode of focus: Big test culminating in hours of studying

It’s a very peaceful mix of piano music that really allows me to zero in on what I need to study for that final tomorrow. I enjoy classical music, but sometimes I feel that it’s too intense and too distracting. This playlist truly is peaceful (hint: the name) and has a classical flair without all of the embellishments. It’s comprised of both movie soundtracks and piano songs designed to put you in the zone to memorize the proximate and ultimate views of behavior.

2. Intense Studying

Mode of focus: Intense studying

This is a great alternative to Peaceful Piano for intense studying (hence the name). This playlist has more of a classical feel, so it’s perfect for those who can’t focus unless listening to Beethoven, or just want to feel extremely smart while studying.

3. Afternoon Acoustic

Mode of focus: Daily work {article writing}

This has to be my favorite concentrated work playlist on Spotify. I tend to listen to this even when I don’t need to focus, but it’s perfect for activities such as getting through a reading for class or writing my article for next week. This playlist has a lot of soft, catchy tunes that you will catch yourself singing along to all day long.

4. Today’s Top Hits

Mode of focus: Daily work

This playlist is a great alternative to Afternoon Acoustic for getting your daily tasks done! This playlist contains the 50 most popular songs of the week, and songs are always being added and removed, keeping it from becoming monotonous. This is perfect if you are in the mood to jam to some JBiebs, or whatever kids these days listen to.

5. Acoustic Instrumental Guitar

Mode of focus: Big paper

This playlist was actually culminated by a Spotify user, but I find it to be just as good as the ones culminated by Spotify themselves. This playlist is not as intense as Peaceful Piano, but not as distracting as Afternoon Acoustic. The songs featured here are all instrumental and played by a guitarist. It contains some really good songs written for guitar, as well as guitar covers of popular music.

6. Have a Great Day!

Mode of focus: Cleaning your room, running errands

Just listening to this playlist brightens my mood. Seriously. It contains a bunch of upbeat, happy songs to ensure you have a great day. It’s the perfect combination of songs our parents sing, songs from our childhood, and current songs. I mean, how can you listen to “Don’t Worry Be Happy” and worry and be sad?

7. DANCEFLOOR

Mode of focus: Working out, strenuous work, dancing your cares away

This playlist just makes me want to dance. It’s also great for cardio! This playlist is filled with your favorite lodge dance floor anthems as well as some EDM songs you probably haven’t heard of. This playlist is nine hours and 20 minutes long, ensuring that you will never run out of songs to jam to.

8. UR AUX CORD

Mode of focus: Practically anything

I can’t write an article about Spotify playlists without giving one of the greatest Spotify playlists of all time a special shoutout. My girl Sara Cloonan started this playlist in case she was ever handed the aux cord, at a party and the result is just amazing. She hits all of the favorites. I find myself listening to this playlist all of the time. It’s perfect for studying, taking long drives, or singing at the top of your lungs (is it too late to say sorry, neighbors?). I would also recommend Sara’s “Library Crank” playlist for a hard studying playlist alternative.
