I love music. I love all genres of music. I am probably listening to music 18 of the 24 hours in a day. I have playlists for everything; studying, sleeping, working out, relaxing, dancing, singing, driving, and more. You could say I'm obsessed.
I made the switch from iTunes to Spotify last year, and let me tell you, the changes are ridiculous. iTunes is dead when it comes to music. Here is why Spotify is so much better and a whole lot more practical:
1. Cost
The cost for Spotify premium is around $10 per month; $4.99 per month for college students.
Let's say you buy one album on iTunes per month. That's around $12 for 13 songs. So you can have 13 songs for $12 or over four million songs for $10 a month at most... do the math.
2. Effort
Let's be honest, iTunes' newest update is confusing. You can't find the shuffle, the repeat, nothing. Spotify you can search things and create playlists within minutes; seconds, even. There is no effort involved.
3. Practicality
The vast majority of music these days is popular for a month or two, then it will fade and become "so annoying." Why would you pay $1.29 for something that will eventually get on your nerves? Instead, you can have those songs while they're hot, then never have to hear them again and be on to the next craze.
4. Music Discovery
Spotify gives you a playlist every week of music it thinks you will like based on the music you already have. You can also follow your friends and see what they are listening to and find new music to listen to.
5. All Around Quality
I love Spotify; you can save your playlists and listen to them wherever, whenever, with data, WiFi, or nothing at all. You never have to worry about them getting deleted, you can access it from any phone or computer, and you don't have to put in a password every time you want a new song. You can listen to old music one time and never have to go back, or you can reminisce on the daily.
iTunes isn't even an option anymore, Spotify is where its at.
