3 Spotify Playlists You ABSOLUTELY NEED in Your Life
Giphy

First and foremost, my motivation for writing this is inspired by Satan's spawn, I mean, Apple Music users, because I physically NEED for everyone to know that these next three playlists exist in our universe and they are, indeed, made for your disposal. So, buckle up.

1. 'Jazz Vibes'

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/37i9dQZF1DX0SM0LYsmbMT?si=wpQDmvElR_i9Lcs8uRzUHg

This playlist is the auditory equivalent of getting a Swedish massage while simultaneously being told that your student loans were paid off. These mellow, lo-fi tunes have jazzy undertones to make you feel like you are sipping tea in a cute cafe in the heart of Paris reading the newspaper in 1950. These songs flow seamlessly into one another to make studying seem like the most enjoyable, tranquil activity in the world.

Personal testimony: In high school I was dreadfully bad at chemistry (hence why I'm in Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication right now), and to get my homework done for that class, I would toss on the 'Jazz Vibes' playlist on Spotify. The smooth, instrumental house sounds were perfectly calming without being too distracting and it allowed for the only head space in which I could complete my chemistry homework.

2. 'PITBULL REVIVAL'

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1dqMPMw4MbEUK78iN1t4cI?si=KGRI_Ls8REOGPwJVMwBN9A

This Spotify playlist is a collaborative work of art that my friend and I worked on for over 3 years (#subtleflex) to cultivate the best, most irreplaceable combination of songs that all have either (a.) Pitbull (b.) Rihanna (c.) Beyonce or (d.) David Guetta influences or similar vibes.

As we all know, Pitbull (may he rest in peace; he's not dead yet but we might as well start putting good energy out there for him now) is one of a kind. How can one man be so bald, but create such LIT songs?!?! The world may never know. Anyways, Mr. 305 creates such a unique sound that makes you want to dance in a nightclub in Brazil with JLo and Shakira by your side and that is a feeling that we deserve to experience ALL the time.

Waking up for your 10:10? Hotel Room by Pitbull.

Hyping yourself up before a date? Countdown by Beyonce

Playing with your dog one last time before you have to put him down? Mr. Saxobeat by Alexandra Stan

If you EVER, and I mean EVER, feel the need to shimmy your shoulders, body roll those hips and get a lil nostalgic about middle school parties, this playlist is a MUST.

3. Hot Girl Summer

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/37i9dQZF1DX4ezQVslkJiT?si=t79gMirSSBqsAnHGGRjKaw

Listen, let's be honest with each other. We all have those songs that we would rather never listen to whilst (ya I used that word) in the presence of our parents/teacher/younger siblings/employers. However, we are young. We have the rest of our lives to listen to socially acceptable music, so 'Freak Nasty' by Megan thee stallion has be a song you listen to at some point in your life. Might as well be right now!

ALSO: If it hasn't already occurred to you, it's hot g*rl semester.

This Spotify playlist is the exact antithesis of sad boi hours. It is humanly impossible to listen to a playlist featuring songs by City Girls, Missy Elliot, Nicki Minaj, H.E.R. and Janet Jackson and NOT want to change the world while wearing a crop top. Just saying.

Am I listening to this playlist right now??! None of your business.

In conclusion, find the music for the soundtrack of your life. If you need a little help to get going, these are some pretty solid places to start.

Hugs and kisses,

Emma

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

Does anybody know how to study

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
